Rylee Govoreau

As a travel writer with a passion for adventure, I love exploring with my partner and our dog in tow—bonus points if there are mountains! I’m all about uncovering hidden gems, local favorites, and affordable eats, but I won’t shy away from a good tourist spot either. I thrive on the outdoors, scenic views, and adrenaline-filled experiences (even if I over-pack every time).

What’s Your Travel Style?

“I’m definitely somewhere in between a plan-every-detail explorer and go-with-the-flow wanderer, but what I am not is a relaxer when I am traveling. Naps? Never heard of them. I’m a go-go-go traveler and want to see and do everything I can fit into the day. I typically do a lot of research before traveling and have a list of things I want to do, so even if I don’t have a day-to-day itinerary, I do have some sort of loose plan. However, that doesn’t mean I need to know too far in advance to plan. Want to go somewhere next weekend? Cool, I’ll pack my bags! I’m a serial over-packer, though. If you’re traveling with me and forgot something, don’t worry – I probably packed two!”

What Georgia Spot Feels
Like ‘Home’ to You?

“Without a second thought, Blue Ridge feels like home to me. I feel most myself in the mountains and always leave a trip to the mountains feeling recharged and at peace. Some of my favorite memories of traveling in Georgia have been to Blue Ridge. I’ve celebrated a bachelorette and bachelor party in Blue Ridge for two of my closest friends and my partner and I’s first ever trip together was a road trip to Blue Ridge. It’s just a special place.”

What’s One Thing You
Always Do When You Travel?

“When my partner and I travel together, one of my favorite traditions is that we love to plan a surprise for each other while we are on trips. This started as something we did on our 1-year anniversary trip to New York, and then we just kept it going. Some of my favorites have been when I surprised him with a sunset mountain tour in Colorado and when he surprised me with a hot air balloon ride in the Bahamas. This tradition is something that really makes every trip have an element of surprise and creates some of our favorite memories.”
