Lee Bowden

Hello there! My name is Lee Bowden and I am new to the travel writing scene. As a
baker, bartender, and lover of all things edible, I am always on the hunt for delectable
desserts and craft cocktails! I am also an artist who absolutely adores nature and
poetry, so you may find me out in the bogs, writing songs with my true friends, the frogs.

What’s Your Travel Style?

“When I travel, I like to lay out my day like a well-balanced meal, with intervals of eating, drinking, exercising, shopping, and relaxation. As a self-described foodie, I tend to shape my trips around breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the in-between hours dedicated to feeding my soul.”

What Georgia Spot Feels
Like ‘Home’ to You?

“While I am loyal to the North Georgia woods (for they are lovely, dark, and deep), the bright Driftwood Beach of Jekyll Island has always been a haven for my family. When I was a child, the weathered trees, playful fiddler crabs, and gelatinous, beached jellyfish seemed to me like features of a fantastical setting. Even now, the magic of Driftwood Beach lives on and calls to me like a siren song.”

What’s One Thing You
Always Do When You Travel?

“I adore souvenirs! I always pick out something unique to the location like local art (bonus points if there is anything with a frog on it), or take a clipping from a plant to put in my travel journal, but I also like to leave a piece of me behind in exchange. I am a maximalist with a souvenir problem, so I have collections abound; I leave things from those collections, like seashells up in trees when I hike in the mountains, or little river stones along pathways at the beach, because I love the idea of leaving a mark on places that mark me!”
