Kasie Bowling

I wasn’t born in the South, but I got here as soon as I could. Since I was a toddler, I’ve preferred exploring Georgia’s “close to home” adventures over traveling around the world. My favorite companions on any journey—near or far—are my handsome husband and our two beautiful girls. Armed with a degree from UGA’s “J School,” my whimsical writings have appeared in everything from Atlanta Parent and Jezebel magazines to numerous news sites. When I’m not clicking away at my laptop, you can find me crossing Georgia’s downtown districts and hidden destinations off my bucket list, discovering new events and experiences along the way.

What’s Your Travel Style?

“As soon as I learn about a destination I haven’t explored yet, I’m off to the races—researching must-see spots to build a rough itinerary and packing all the essentials in my backpack for a quick weekend getaway. Yoga pants are my go-to for daytime adventures of all kinds, but I always pack a travel-friendly basic black dress for dinner and drinks on the town.”

What Georgia Spot Feels
Like ‘Home’ to You?

“The moss-draped oaks and shell-lined beaches of St. Simons Island are my happy place. My family once had a home there—just two blocks from the ocean—and I said “I do” in the Island’s famed Lovely Lane Chapel before celebrating the night away in the King & Prince ballroom with the people I love most.”

What’s One Thing You
Always Do When You Travel?

“I’m always on the hunt for an ice cream shop when I travel. With a cone in hand, I can slow down, soak in the scenery, chat about everything we’ve experienced so far, and start planning what’s next.”
