Jessica Whittingslow

I was born in South Georgia and lived in metro Atlanta for several years after college before returning to my roots in the Golden Isles. I’ve traveled all over Georgia, enjoying adventures like hiking Pine Mountain in West Georgia, spending weekends in the charming, German-inspired town of Helen, and kayaking off the East Coast. I’ve worked in the travel and tourism industry for almost a decade. When I’m not writing, reading, or baking, you can find me at the beach or out in nature with my husband and our two young boys.

What’s Your Travel Style?

“‘If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.’ That is my travel mantra. I love some spontaneity, but you’ll typically find a spreadsheet with all sorts of details and dates if you’re traveling with me. I’m always happy to deviate from the plan, but I like to set out with the itinerary all worked out.”

What Georgia Spot Feels
Like ‘Home’ to You?

“There’s nothing quite like sitting under Jekyll Island’s moss-covered live oak trees while a summer breeze blows through. The area’s natural beauty and slow pace make it the ideal place to find peace and quiet.”

What’s One Thing You
Always Do When You Travel?

“Food and beverage tend to run the show when I’m exploring a new city. Coffee is a must, and I like to get whatever the special is or what the barista recommends when I’m trying a place for the first time.”
