Cheryl Smith

I am a native Georgian who worked for the Georgia’s tourism office for over 30 years and currently work for the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Georgia Grown program as the agritourism manager for the past 5 ½ years. I took my tourism experience and now work with farmers who wish to bring visitors to their agritourism operation to experience Georgia’s agriculture. It has been so rewarding working with the farmers.

What’s Your Travel Style?

“I love to travel Georgia because it is so diverse in geography, attractions, culture, history, and experiences. I think of myself as a bit of a vagabond. I love to find places that are not well-known but that are different and that have a story to tell. My husband says I never stop working…that I see opportunities every place I visit.”

What Georgia Spot Feels
Like ‘Home’ to You?

“If asked what Georgia destination feels most like home, I’d have to say the North Georgia mountains with all the wonderful small towns, great outdoor activities, scrumptious food offerings and great wine!”

What’s One Thing You
Always Do When You Travel?

“We have a camper van and I think the best thing about our travels as that we find the best places to eat. I will plan where to go based on places and things that I’ve heard about, but when I get there, I ask the locals what is so special about where I am.”
